Bedford Centre:

Our Bedford centre provides counselling and counsellor training and serves north and mid Bedfordshire including Kempston, Ampthill, Biggleswade and Sandy as well as other surrounding towns and local areas.

We aim to provide a truly affordable counselling service to communities in Bedford as we offer concessionary rates as well as standard rates.  All of our counsellors within the Bedford Centre are professionally trained and their work is supported by accredited psychotherapists who are also qualified supervisors. To access our services in Bedford you must be 18 years.

Clients can be offered either long-term or short-term counselling:

Long-term counselling

Long term counselling, which is not readily available on the NHS, offers an opportunity to explore your difficulties in great depth.  Whilst we recommend a period of two years in the long-term approach, we are able to extend the sessions if client and counsellor deem this to be appropriate.

Short-term counselling

The short-term approach is particularly suitable for you if you have a particular issue to focus on which can be worked with over a period of 12 weeks.

The Bedford Centre has ground floor rooms with disabled access and parking is available on the streets nearby.

Finding Us:

Situated close to the town centre, Foster Hill Road is a turning off The Broadway (A6) almost opposite Club Crystal and a temporary car park, on the corner is Pharmacy OM. Note the Broadway is one way in a southerly direction from Tavistock Street.

The Centre is in Bates House (number 12) on the left hand side of Foster Hill Road when approaching from The Broadway. The main entrance is at the rear of the building and accessed via the driveway.

There is no parking at the centre, but surrounding streets offer controlled zone parking.

There is a multi-storey car park in Queen Street (MK40 2AH), a road to the rear of the centre accessed via Foster Hill Road or the Broadway, a two minute walk. Also Lurke Street (MK40 3HZ) nearby.

Nearest bus stop: Bedford Bus Station is a five to ten minute walk. Exit into Allhallows turn left until junction with Dame Alice Street turn right (Bedford Prison on left), turn left at traffic lights along Harpur Street to the junction of Tavistock Street and The Broadway, (Michael R Peters shop will be in front of you) turn right and Foster Hill Road is a second turning on the left.

Train: Bedford is well served by Bedford Main Line from St Pancras. There is also a station at Bedford St Johns from Bletchley.
